How to EFT

  • Phase 1: Focus your mind on the issue at hand and get in touch with your feelings about it as strongly as possible. For example: “I am afraid of heights”. Close your eyes and let it be as if you are standing on the summit of the highest Mountain in the world. Let it be as vivid as possible.
  • Phase 2: On a scale of 0 to 10, with 0=none & 10=the highest, give the feeling you have a number.
  • Phase 3: Start gently rubbing your Sore Point (1), while stating for 3 times the following: “Even though I have this (name the feeling), I deeply and profoundly and irreversibly accept myself”
  • Phase 4: Tape on the 14 major Meridian Points, 7 to 10 times starting with # 2; while tapping on each point, state out loud: “This (name the feeling)”
  • Phase 5: Take a deep breath, slowly inhale and exhale, then check on the feeling. Again from 0 to 10 give the feeling a number.
    • If no progress has been made: start over exploring what other feelings are beneath the issue at hand. Be more specific.

  • Phase 6: While rubbing the Sore Point, state “Even though I still have some of this (name the feeling) I profoundly and deeply and irreversibly accept myself.” Then state while tapping again on the Major Meridian Points “This remaining (name the feeling)”. Do as many rounds of tapping as you need until the feeling’s number equals 0.
